How support is organised in Causeway Coast and Glens

Causeway Coast and Glens brings Coleraine, Ballymoney, Limavady, the Glens and many smaller communities into one council district. Health services do not follow that modern boundary in every case, so two families in the district may be directed to different HSC trusts.

School support is simpler to place. Start with the school, describe the barrier and ask what will change now. The Education Authority becomes involved where regional or statutory SEN work is needed.

The Education Authority manages SEN services, statutory assessment and statements across Northern Ireland. Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is relevant for leisure, facilities and community life, but it does not administer school SEN.

For health or developmental concerns, give the referrer the full postcode and ask them to name the receiving trust and service. Check that information against the current Trust page or HSC service finder before sending documents or travelling.

For activities and practical help, search the whole district but check distance, public transport and session location. A service described as local may still be difficult to reach from a coastal or rural community.
